Human wildlife conflict escalates in Bulilima

The Human Wildlife Conflict crisis has reached alarming levels in Bulilima District. A villager from Tsukuru village recently lost 6 herd of cattle to lions and hyenas. The nocturnal predators wait until nightfall to carry out raids on pens and livestock roaming outside confinement. A number of factors such as shrinking wildlife habitats, poaching and settlement in wildlife corridors are contributing to the escalating crisis. Habakkuk Trust is working together with the local community to find a lasting solution to the prevailing socio- environmental crisis.
